I have never quite understood the fascination with the Royals.  My mother seems to be infatuated with them as does most of North America.  Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t we Americans kick them out two hundred thirty-six years ago.  As a staunch supporter of Republican Government, Democracy,  I fail to see the usefulness of a family that declared itself to be in power due to Divine Right (God wanted it that way) and the necessary military to execute this decree.  So of course God wanted the Royals to be the wealthiest family on earth, have many castles and oppress/eliminate anyone that didn’t agree with them.  Sound familiar?  It’s no different from Assad in Syria, Hussein in Iraq or any other dictator.  Now I understand it’s a long time ago and the Royals, House of Lords, no longer has any real power but they still reap the benefits.  Would you want to belong to a branch of government refered to as the House of Commons?  Happy 60th Jubilee Your Highness.
