NASA has jumped in to the melee involving people who believe the world will end on December 21st. There are a number of scenarios that believers put forth in attempting to explain how this will happen. Before discussing those scenarios, one should understand where it all started. Apparently the Mayan calendar ends this December 21st although Mayan scholars all agree the Mayans would not have seen this as Apocalyptic. It seems more likely, it’s just the end of the year, the way our year ends on the 31st of December. So what do believers say will happen? There are a number of scenarios. First, a rogue planet, Nibiru will enter our solar system and strike our earth, causing the end of life. Second, all of the planets will align, causing catastrophic tidal waves. Third, the earth will reverse rotation. A fourth scenario involves solar storms. According to NASA scientists, none of these scenarios are true or scientifically possible. A new website Beyond 2012 has been established by NASA associates in order to debunk any of the nonsensical propaganda being discussed. In terms of a rogue planet, there is a dwarf planet referred to as Eris on the website that says, “Eris is real, but it is a dwarf planet similar to Pluto that will remain in the outer solar system; the closest it can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.” People who believe the end of the world is coming, are tragic figures. Obviously the world will still be here on December 22. But the question that begs answering is why are there a group of people who want so much to believe this? It’s because their lives are out of their control. Preaching the ultimate end of life empowers them. Frightening other people empowers them. They’re uneducated and unintelligent. It’s as simple as that. People should feel badly for these lost souls but more importantly people should feel badly for their children. There was a report that one family was preparing to commit suicide before the 21st so they wouldn’t have to experience the end of the world. It’s quite unbelievable. For most people, holiday shopping continues, Christmas will still be on December 25th and all of those sad, lost people will have to find something else to occupy their time.
