It appears adults have lost control of 7th grade children.  Going back a few years, we all can remember kids just like the ones on the bus in yesterday’s video.  The difference was, they were dealt with immediately.  Their parents were called up to school, they were suspended, there were consequences.  There is no question that the kid or kids in the video are abusive little jerks but Ms Klein sat there and took the abuse rather than acting as an adult and explaining the consequences.  If she was not able to, perhaps she is working in the wrong field.  It’s lovely that the whole country wants to send this woman on vacation but that won’t fix the root cause of the problem.  With fewer and fewer children being raised by parents due to societal changes, there are going to be behavior problems; not necessarily violent behavior but “bullying behavior”.  Guilt ridden parents don’t want to use the time they do  spend with their children, disciplining them.  But children need to be taught the difference between right and wrong, they won’t learn that concept on their own.  They are doing a terrible disservice to their kids.  Today, more than ever, it takes a village to raise a child.  Had Ms Klein dealt swiftly with those kids, this situation would have ended very differently.  Of course she wouldn’t be going on vacation…..
