One of the most horrific and irresponsible programs on television is “Teen Mom”.  The entire concept is insane and the folks at MTV should be called to the carpet.  What a disgrace to air a show about one of the most tragic situations imaginable.  There is nothing beautiful or exciting about a young woman, who can’t even take care of herself, bringing a poor, innocent baby in to the world.  It may seem interesting to other silly,immature teens but it’s as disgusting as any reality show to ever be shown on television.  The fact is, most teen mothers live a terrible life in poverty and if there is no help from their families, these girls have very little hope of ever turning their lives around.  But even more tragic are the babies born to the irresponsible, immature, young men and women.  These poor babies have the right not to be born to parents who are but children themselves.  For the producers and executives to think it’s ok, is completely outrageous.  Reality shows are for the brain-dead, no doubt, but at least most are harmless.  That’s not the case here.  I’m sure the powers that be at MTV believe they’re helping these young people by paying them for being on the show but what they see as help, I see as exploitation.  What brought me to write this is the fact that it was announced that some teen named Jenelle Evans is pregnant with her second child, a girl.  Her first child, a son, lives with her mother who has custody of him.  But Jenelle is hoping to regain custody of her son in the near future.  It actually makes you want to gag.  It’s amazing there hasn’t been more of an outpouring of public sentiment, but I suppose it’s a sign of the times.  MTV is airing such garbage, that it’s completely outlived its usefulness as an entertainment medium.  Parents should stop their children from watching it and the FCC should revoke MTV’s broadcasting license.
